Techlinic Celebrates the Graduation of Two Cohorts: Empowering Entrepreneurs and Healthcare Leaders to Transform Healthcare in East Jerusalem and the West Bank

Jerusalem, December 22, 2024 – Techlinic, an innovation-driven organization specializing in tailored technology solutions and mentorship programs, proudly announces the graduation of two cohorts of entrepreneurs and healthcare leaders from its Health Innovation Project. These programs mark a significant step in addressing critical healthcare challenges across East Jerusalem and the West Bank, fostering innovation, advancing care delivery, and building stronger, more connected healthcare systems.

Supported by the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Building Regional Economic Bridges (BREB) Activity, the Health Innovation Project includes two focused programs: the Incubation Program and the Health-Tech Leadership Group Program. Together, these initiatives aim to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to drive healthcare innovation and promote regional collaboration.

Incubation Program: Empowering Healthcare Entrepreneurs

The Incubation program nurtures innovative solutions to pressing healthcare challenges by identifying and developing promising entrepreneurial ideas. In 2024, Techlinic hosted four major conferences in Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, and Jerusalem, engaging more than 500 medical professionals and administrators.

From approximately 30 submissions, 18 projects were selected for development based on their potential to improve care delivery, enhance cross-sector collaboration, and create a lasting positive impact in the healthcare sector.

“This program is a critical milestone in bridging the technological gaps in healthcare across East Jerusalem and the West Bank. By equipping entrepreneurs and healthcare leaders with essential skills, it empowers them to address the region’s pressing healthcare challenges and drive long-term improvements in medical care and technological innovation,” said Mahmoud Kweis, founder and CEO of Techlinic.

The program delivered 14 specialized training sessions on topics such as startup product development, go-to-market strategies, team mobilization, regulatory compliance, and patent registration. Participants gained insights from international best practices through partnerships with renowned institutions like the University of Michigan and the Beit Mal Al Quds Foundation, as well as visits to leading medical centers such as Sheba Medical Center and innovation hubs like the Medex Foundation. Participants also showcased Palestinian ingenuity at the GITEX Global Exhibition in Dubai, expanding their market opportunities. These efforts align with BREB’s goals of fostering regional cooperation, strengthening the capacity of Palestinian startups, and advancing global competitiveness.

Health-Tech Leadership Group Program: Strengthening Healthcare Systems

Techlinic’s Health Leadership Group brought together 16 delegates from East Jerusalem hospitals, including doctors and administrators from St. Joseph, St. John, and Clalit and Maccabi clinics. Over six months, participants attended lectures and visited leading healthcare institutions in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa, including Alyn hospitals for pediatric rehabilitation and the medical centers of Shaare Zedek and Sheba. They also visited innovation centers such as Medex Foundation and MindUp, gaining inspiration and practical insights to enhance healthcare institutions in East Jerusalem.

These experiences allowed participants to exchange knowledge, explore innovative healthcare technologies, and identify actionable strategies to enhance healthcare delivery in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. By fostering cross-border collaboration, this initiative contributes to regional development and innovation.

As a key component of USAID’s Partnership for Peace Fund under the Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act (MEPPA), BREB promotes regional economic cooperation and advances the long-term development goals of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
